South Dakota

CHW Titles

The Community Health Worker Collaborative of South Dakota recognizes two (2) titles for Community Health Workers in South Dakota.

Certificate-Level CHW

A Certificate-Level CHW is an individual who has obtained an approved CHW training certificate in South Dakota and works under the APHA definition of a CHW. The CHWSD is working with South Dakota Medicaid to develop a voluntary certification for CHWs and CHRs in South Dakota. This certification will launch in late 2022 and the title of Certified CHW or Certified CHR will then be used in place of Certificate-Level CHW.
